| What to do about Paradox Lock Files | ||
| 1. | There should be only one *.net file. It is in the directory c:\bhph\net. The file name is "pdoxusrs.net". There should not be more than one pdoxusers.net file. You can delete them when the database is not in use. | |
| 2. | Paradox leaves two lock files in various places. They are "paradox.lck" and "pdoxusrs.lck". I don't know what they are for, but they can be deleted when the database is not in use. | |
| 3. | If you are having problems with paradox on a network: | |
|   | a. | Shut down the EZ Auto Sales program. |
|   | b. | Remove all the pdoxusrs.net and the two types of lock files from all the directories on the PCs involved. |
|   | c. | Paradox will recreate the files its needs when you start up. |
| 4. | When you start the BDE configuration click on Paradox to examine the NET setting. If you are on a network then should point to a network directory with full privileges. | |
| 5. | On each satellite PC, the BDE needs to be configured to point to the main PC. To do that, start the BDE Administrator at c:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\BDE\bdeadmin.exe. | |
|   | a. | When you start the program, you see two tabs on the left side. Click the Configuration tab. |
|   | b. | If there is a plus before Configuration, click the plus to expand the tree. |
|   | c. | Expand the tree before Drivers and under that, click the plus before Native. |
|   | d. | Click on PARADOX. Notice on the right there is an item labeled "NET DIR". |
|   | e. | Change the value associated with NET DIR to the net directory for the main PC (almost always \bhph\net). So if the main PC is designated by "m:", the NET DIR should be "m:\bhph\net". |
